The gates were designed to facilitate and reduce transfer times between pools of different water levels.

 

De Lápices A Cohetes was contracted to carry out the entire research and design stage. This project arose from the need to transship spare parts and materials through the ports (sand and mud) in order to avoid the accumulation of spare parts, reduce transport times and replace any other type of non-standard operation for the movement of cargo.

 

The canal has a modular design, each gate is mounted on a navigable and submersible pontoon, which allows the canal to be dismantled and assembled elsewhere without the need for major civil works.
